What
are SupremeCorqs made of?
A SupremeCorq closure
is made of a high-grade thermoplastic elastomer. Because it is made
from an elastomer, the product has "elastic" type properties
which allow it to expand, contract and rebound. SupremeCorq closures
comply with FDA and EU regulations. This type of raw material is currently
used in medical and baby products.
Synthetic closures
are also made from natural materials. To produce food contact grade
quality plastic, a variety of basic compounds such as carbon, hydrogen,
oxygen and nitrogen are extracted from natural materials such as petroleum,
coal and natural gas. These materials are combined together in a variety
of sophisticated ways to produce different types of recyclable plastics.
Why
should I select an injection molded closure over an extruded closure?
SupremeCorqs
are injection molded because this method of production offers several
benefits over extrusion:
|
Each unit
is individually manufactured to ensure consistency
|
| |
The
outer skin completely seals the closure, protecting the internal
cell structure and preventing wine absorption |
| |
The
skin allows the closure to conform more readily to the bottle bore,
insuring a proper seal |
| |
The
complete outer skin makes the closure appear more attractive, natural,
and finished in the bottle |
| |
Frayed
edges and loose particle ends are eliminated |
| |
The
potential for future product development/improvement is greater |
| |
Shorter,
cost effective production runs are possible |
Why are SupremeCorqs chamfered at the ends?
SupremeCorq closures
are chamfered (slightly rounded) at the ends. This allows for easier
initial insertion and extraction of the closure. The chamfered ends
also allow for easier reinsertion for the customer after opening. It
also ensures that the closure does not fray at the ends.
