Supreme Corq Inc. Announces Synthetic Corq UK Recycling Program

Supreme Corq Inc., world leader in wine and distilled spirits sealing systems, today announces the establishment of a program to recycle synthetic corqs in the United Kingdom. The first company to participate in this innovative new program is Oddbins, one of the UK’s largest wine retailers.

With collection boxes in every one of the 226 branches of Oddbins in the UK, consumers can now return their synthetic corqs to accessible and convenient locations. All synthetic closures of whatever size or color can be recycled. The closures will be consolidated at Oddbins’ central distribution center before being recycled into items such as shoe soles or plant containers.

Around the world an increasing number of wineries choose synthetic closures to protect their wines from tree-bark cork taint. Industry estimates suggest that at least 10% of all wines sold in the UK are sealed with a synthetic corq. This unique program underscores Supreme Corq’s commitment to recycling.

Supreme Corq is the world’s largest supplier and premium manufacturer of wine and distilled spirits closures, supplying more than 1,000 wineries worldwide, since 1992. Supreme Corq is the only ISO 9001:2000 and AIB (American Institute of Baking) certified synthetic corq supplier in the world.

Oddbins is the 12-time winner of the International Wine Challenge UK Wine Merchant of the Year award.
